Explorer Alum Fights for a Chance at the Pros

June 14, 2007

SAN JOSE, CA - Former La Salle University football player Kevin Sullivan (Nanuet, NY/St. Joseph's-Montvale) has been invited to work out with the San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League.

Sullivan, who was a three-year starter at runningback for the Explorers from 2004-2006 earned All-American honors in 2005 as an all-purpose player by Don Hansen's Football Gazette and was named first-team All-MAAC.  Sullivan was named to the second team All-MAAC squad for his senior season of 2006.

"I feel Kevin would be an excellent fit for the Arena League," said Head Football Coach Tim Miller.  "Kevin was not only an outstanding runningback at La Salle, but also played a good amount of receiver, and I know he has the aggressiveness and instincts to play on the defensive side of the ball.  I think his versatility will be perfect for the two-way style of the AFL."

Sullivan is hoping to hear about the SaberCats decision in the upcoming weeks.  "Kevin is an exceptional athlete, young man, and representative of La Salle University.  This opportunity is a great chance for him to show people outside of our school and conference what he's all about and what kind of talent we can produce at our school," said Miller.  "We're excited about Kevin's opportunity and feel it is a good indication of where we see La Salle football heading in the near future."
