La Salle Adds Four Newcomers to the 2007-08 Roster

PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle tennis coach Ed Colfer announced the signing of three freshman and a transfer student for the 2007-08 tennis season.  Colfer adds George Gennaoui and Chris Stonis of Glassboro, New Jersey and Andrew Petrusky of Eaton, Pennsylvania along with Ryan Knarr, a sophomore transfer student from Elizabetown College.  Knarr is a native o Robesonia, Pennsylvania. 

Gennaoui, a four-time All-South Jersey honoree was the first player at St. Augustine Prep to reach 100 career wins, finishing with 116.  The four time All-Conference selection and All-State Non-Public  pick served as captain for two seasons and helped lead the team to the school's first ever state tennis state championship while competing at the #1 singles post.  In his senior season, Gennaoui was the recipient of the  Daily Journal's Men's Tennis Player of the Year. 


Petrusky joins the Explorers by way of
Notre Dame High School where he played number one singles position all four years.  He was ranked in both boys' 16 and 18 singles in Eastern Pennsylvania and is currently ranked 38th in Middle States section.  Petrusky has competed in the PA Scholastic Sate Doubles Championship in Hershey, PA.   

Rounding out the freshman class, Stonis, a four-year letter winner at Gloucester County Institute of Technology finished his career with a 56-23 record at the number one post.  He served as team captain junior and senior years and was selected as a Tri-County Scholar Athlete and was the recipient of the Tri-County Sportsmanship Award.  During his career, Stonis was named to the All-Tri-County first team and was an Honorable Mention All-State South in 2006.  He finished his career as the all-time career wins leader at Gloucester County Institute of Technology.

 After competing his freshman season at
Elizabethtown College, Knarr from transfers to LaSalle after posting a singles record of 11-17 and doubles record of 11-15 while competing at the first position.   Knarr's play earned him a spot on the All-MAAC second team and was a team conference finalist.           

Colfer on the incoming class "  I am very proud of the 2007-08 recruiting class.  My goal for this class was to find players that could play the number one and two positions.  I feel that Petrusky, Gennaoui and Knarr will challenge for the number one position.  Stonis will add depth to the team.  This freshman class will provide instant help to the returning class."
