PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Dr. Thomas Brennan has announced Head Women's Basketball Coach Tom Lochner has received a contract extension that will keep him at 20th and Olney for the next three seasons.

 

Lochner, who just completed his third season as Head Coach at La Salle (20th overall), guided the Explorers to a 19-11 record - the team's best mark in more than a decade. The 2007 Philadelphia Big 5 Coach of the Year is now signed through the 2009-10 season.

 

"The women's basketball program at La Salle has been very successful both on the court and in the classroom and that is a great reflection of Tom's character, commitment and vision for the program," said Brennan. "I am very pleased that he will be with us for at least another three seasons."

 

Lochner joined the La Salle staff as an assistant coach in 1987 and took over as head coach in 2004, compiling an overall mark of 42-44 in his first three years.

 

The Explorers will open the 2007-08 slate hosting Villanova at Tom Gola Arena, Friday, November 9 at 7 PM.
