The La Salle University community mourns the loss of J. Newton "Newt" Jones who died Friday night in Lancaster, PA.

A member of the revered 1952 National Invitational Tournament Champion La Salle Explorer basketball team, Newt was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps where he served as a First Liuetenant during the Korean Conflict.

He played professionally briefly for the Philadelphia Warriors.

The La Salle community extends it condolences to the Jones family in their time of sorrow.
