PHILADELPHIA - In a competitive battle on Sunday at McCarthy Stadium, the La Salle University Alumnae challenged the 2007 Women's Soccer squad, but could not come up with a victory, losing 3-2.
Scoring goals for the returners were Tracey Spinelli and Heather Barclay. The Coaching Staff would like to thank all of the players who came back to take part in the match and supported the event.
"It was great for our current players to get the opportunity to play against some of the distinguished names from the past," said Head Coach Paul Royal. "I was very happy with the level of play from the alumnae, which really gave our team a real battle."
Playing in the game were Liz Ash, Heather Barclay, Erin Casey, Colleen Farrell, Alissa Franchini, Dana Gavaghan, Kaitlin (Glass) Ross, Alexis Petrucci, Shannon Plunkett, Kerry Schamberger, Kate Seward, Tracey Spinelli, Liz (Schmidt) Gavrys, Marissa Suarez, Courtney White, while Shelby Reese and Tricia Gauss attended but were unable to play.
The Coaching Staff would also like to announce some future Alumnae dates this upcoming season. The first reception is Friday, September 28, at 6 PM with the Explorers hosting Saint Louis at 7 PM, and Friday, October 12, at 6 PM followed by the Explorers versus Saint Joseph's at 7 PM. They are also planning a postgame reception for after the Sunday, October 14th match with Temple.
