PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle Explorers weren't able to generate enough offense to match the visiting Ursinus Bears in a 28-0 defeat Thursday night at McCarthy Stadium.

Running back Aaron Harper put the Bears up early in the first quarter with a four yard touchdown run while Dorie Herndon's kick resulted in a 7-0 Ursinus lead. The drive was borne when senior Joe Procopio's (Calvert, MD/Temple) pass was intercepted by Jordan Mummau.

The first quarter then ended with Explorer quarterback junior Chris Hanson (Southampton, PA/Archbishop Wood) fumbling an attempted pass, and Billy Stolle returning it 48 yards for another Ursinus score. Despite turning the ball over four times in the first quarter the Explorers trailed just 14-0 at the half.

The Explorers showed signs of life during the third quarter as they drove the length of the field on a twenty-five play drive that ended with Hanson's fourth down pass to the end zone being incomplete. The drive stalled out with an offsides penalty called on second and goal with the Explorers on the Bears' three yard line.

Ursinus ended all hopes of an Explorer comeback with two fourth quarter touchdowns, one a 39 yard touchdown scramble by Aaron Harper, and the other on a 34 yard interception return by defensive lineman Chris Carey.

Hanson led all Explorer rushers with 48 yards on 6 carries, while senior Kevin Crockett (Sicklerville, Pa/Paul VI) was the leading receiver on the night with five catches for 49 yards.

La Salle Football will be back in action on Saturday, September 8th in a 1:00pm game at Sacred Heart University in Stamford, CT.
