Lisun Searching for First Assist of Season

Sept. 19, 2007

The La Salle University Women's Soccer team, just six games into the 2007 season, has already scored more goals in a season (15) than four Explorer teams did during an entire year.

Oddly enough, not a single one has been assisted by senior Kim Lisun, a senior tri-captain who is tied for eighth all-time in assists in a career in the Blue and Gold. The honorable mention Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection in 2006 has scored one time this year, but has yet to earn an assist.

The last time she was held without an assist for an entire season was her sophomore season, the same year that she broke her arm and missed almost a month of action.

A recent sit-down with the midfielder revealed that the broken arm was nothing new - she says she has broken it more than 10 times - and that until recently, she did not like Mia Hamm.

Why did you choose La Salle?

The coaches and the players were the main reason I chose La Salle, and it was close to home. I really didn't know what I wanted to do (major), so the biggest reason I came here was for soccer.

What improvements have you seen in the program since coming here?

The team is a lot different from when I first got here. First, the team was not fit, but now we are. Also, the skill level of the players is a lot higher. We just seem to be bringing in better and better players each year, which is just a huge difference.

What was your greatest memory of your soccer career so far?

My greatest accomplishment was making the regional ODP (Olympic Development Program) team as a senior in high school.

What would you like to accomplish this season?

I want us to make the Atlantic 10 Finals - well I would like us to win it - but a big goal of the year is to make it into that final game and then see what happens there.

Last season, the staff showed you "Dare to Dream", what did you take from that?

It made me want to play at that level. Actually, before I saw that, I really didn't like Mia Hamm, but after watching that and seeing what they went through and getting to know the players better, it changed my mind.

What do you do to prepare for a game?

Besides all the normal stuff, I want to get a good night's sleep. Then in the morning, I eat a good breakfast, and then I always want to get a good nap in before the game.

Who is your biggest inspiration/role model?

When I was younger, it was Alexi Lalas, because he always won the head balls. Funny thing is I actually have his CD and he signed it. But growing up, I wanted to play like him.
