Freshman forward Ryan Richter had his second goal of the holiday weekend, yet the Explorers still could not celebrate as they fell to St. Francis College (NY) Terriers 2-3 in another overtime loss.
The Explorers got behind early in the first half, as St. Francis wasted no time going up 1-0 less than one minute into play. Junior Kevin Lydic tied it up for La Salle off an assist from classmate Daniel Heavey to head into halftime tied at 1-1.
The Terriers got the lead back in the second, until a score from Richter would tie it up at 2-2 with just three minutes remaining in regulation. With the clock ticking down, the Explorers could not find the back of the net and the game headed into overtime.
The Terriers proved to have just as much bark as their bite, taking the 3-2 win just two minutes into the extra stanza. The Explorers look to take their first victory of the season on Friday, September 7th when they travel to Columbia for a 4:00 PM start.
