Junior forward Kevin Lydic (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) drove the ball into the left corner of the net just one minute into overtime to end 90 consecutive minutes of scoreless soccer and bring the Explorers (1-2, 0-0) to victory over Columbia University (0-2, 0-0) on the road. La Salle has now played three consecutive overtime matches.
The game-winner came off a pass by junior midfielder/forward Jim Davis (Pittsgrove, NJ/ A.P. Schalick), who had been testing Columbia keeper Michael Testa all afternoon.
The Explorers outshot the Lions 12-7. La Salle first-year keeper Kyle Quigley (Millersville, MD/ Severna Park) had one save in the game. The blue and gold return to action on Friday, September 14th when they travel down the Schuylkill to play in the Penn Tournament to face Lafayette at 5:00 PM.
