Men's Track & Field #18 in the Nation

Jan. 30, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - In the first regular season poll of 2008, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) have seeded the La Salle Explorer's men's track team #18 in the nation, as released on Wednesday, January 30th.  The Explorers were the only Atlantic 10 team recognized in the USTFCCA poll.

The Explorers have been led by a strong group of both veterans and rookies, including four-time All-American Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA) who has already been named Atlantic 10 `Performer of the Week' for the past two weeks.  Quigley most recently broke La Salle's 3000m school record in 7:52.47, and qualified for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships in both the 3000m and the one mile event.  He currently has the fastest time in the 3K and one mile in the A-10.

Two other Explorers hold top times within the A-10, including junior Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ) who has been holding down the 1000m event for the Explorers, currently owning the top time in 2:27.56.  Senior Steve Rendall (Downingtown, PA) is tied for the lead in the A-10 in the 55m Hurdles, with a time of 7.56 and also is third in the 200m Dash in 22.55.  Two-time A-10 `Rookie of the Week' freshman Trevon Rainford (Philadelphia, PA) is helping the blue and gold in the mile event, currently in second place in the A-10 in 4:10.16.

The University of Arkansas grabbed the top spot in the USTFCCCA poll, with Tennessee, Oklahoma, Boise State, and Texas Tech rounding out the top five.

The 2008 USTFCCCA Division I Rankings are compiled strictly from the NCAA descending order lists and will be released each Wednesday for both the indoor and outdoor seasons.
