When junior Traci DePasquale scored her fourth goal of the season on Sunday to pull the Explorers to within a goal versus St. Bonaventure, it marked the third straight contest she had registered a point.
With the goal, she also gave La Salle Women's Soccer - for the first time since 2000 - a roster that features four players with at least four goals scored, which is also the fourth time in school history. Only once - 1999 - has an Explorer team had four players each score at least five, but with eight more games to go, DePasquale, Alex Conley, and Melanie Gamble, each just need one more to match that accomplishment - Dana O'Brien is the other Explorer, who currently has five.
This is not the first time DePasquale is putting her name in the La Salle's record book, as last season, she scored 11 goals and had 28 points, ranking fifth and sixth respectively in a single season. She is also slowly climbing the all-time charts as well with 19 career goals (T-6th), 13 career assists (T-7th), and 51 career points (8th).
The elementary and special education major - who is quite busy this fall with student teaching and the season - did have a chance to answer a few questions during runs on the practice field.
Q&A:
Why did you choose La Salle?
It was really close to home, which was important to me. When I came to campus - I just fell in love with the coaching staff and really liked the team.
What is your greatest soccer memory (HS/Club/La Salle)?
When I was going into my freshman year of high school, my club team (Lacey Magic) won the Kellogg's Cup National Championship and we got our picture on the cover of the Frosted Flakes box.
Do you do anything special to prepare for a game/how do you prepare for a game?
Get a lot of sleep. I like to eat well and take a nap before the game. I want to be well rested.
Who is your role model/inspiration?
My brothers Joe and Mike, while growing up, I just wanted to be like them. I followed them everywhere. They taught me so much about sports and who I am today. They have taught me never to give up and always go for what I want.
What is the best thing and worst thing about being a student athlete?
Best thing is that I get to play soccer. The worst is - right now I am student teaching, so I go a full day of school, then I have to go to soccer practice, then do school work.
If you weren't playing soccer, where and what would you be doing?
I would probably be attending a school about 30 minutes from my home and just hanging out with friends.
What is your favorite spot on campus?
My apartment, my bed.
