PHILADELPHIA - The La Salle rowing program opened up its fall season on Saturday at the Navy Day Regatta on the Schuylkill River. Five boats raced for the Explorers, including the men's and women's varsity fours, men's and women's novice eights and the men's Dad Vail eights.

The men's novice 8+ boat raced to an Explorer-best 8th place out of 21 entries. They rowed the four-kilometer race in 14:37.60, 45 seconds behind top finisher Saint Joseph's. The women's novice eights rowed in 18:13.00 for 14th place out of 20.

The men's varsity 4+ boat placed 16th out of 20 entries, completing the 4K race in 16:30.50.

The women's varsity fours also finished 16th of 20 with a time of 18:36.00.

The men's Dad Vail eights wrapped up the day for the Explorers by finishing fourth out of nine. They raced the course in 14:41.90, 35 seconds behind top finisher Loyola College (Md.).

The Explorers are back in action on Sat., Nov. 1st, when they head to Ventnor, N.J., for the Shore Boy Regatta.
