La Salle Volleyball Takes Part in Dig for the Cure

Oct. 16, 2008

Philadelphia, PA - The La Salle volleyball team will use Friday's home match against Charlotte as an opportunity to contribute to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation. The event that the Explorers will take part in is called "Dig for the Cure."

The program, which was created in 2003 by Lisa Marston, is coordinated to raise money and awareness for breast cancer research.

With 216 volleyball teams to date, over $35,000 has been raised this fall due to "Dig for the Cure." In its five year existence, the foundation has collected approximately $340,000 and in 2007 alone, 102 participants collected $231,265.18 for the cause.

Each Explorer will look to find family, friends and fans who want to pledge a certain amount of money per dig or an upfront donation for the evening's match. Come out and help motivate the La Salle volleyball team fight breast cancer on Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
