Box Score

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The La Salle University Explorers downed Philadelphia University, 76-60 in a preseason exhibition on Saturday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.

Sophomore Jerrell Williams (Paterson, NJ/Northfield Mount Hermon) led all scorers with 19 points and added eight rebounds.

Williams was one four Explorers to score ten or more points including junior transfer Vernon Goodridge (Brooklyn, NY/Mississippi State) who had 12 points, eight rebounds and blocked three shots in his first game in an Explorer uniform.

The Explorers never trailed in the game and led 32-22 at halftime. They used a 15-4 surge to open a 47-26 lead five minutes into the second half and would not be challenged the rest of the way in a game that they led by as 24 points.

Mike Dunn scored 12 of his team-high 14 points in second half to lead the Rams. He was 4-9 from the three-point arc.

Ruben Guillandeaux (Brooklyn, NY/St. Patrick's) and Yves Mekongo Mbala (Elizabeth, NJ/St. Patrick's) each went 2-4 from the arc and combined to score 18 points. Fellow junior Rodney Green (Philadelphia, PA/Prep Charter) had 11 points with three assists and three turnovers and played most of the second half in foul trouble as the team's primary point guard.

The Explorers will begin the 2008-09 regular season next Saturday at 2:00 PM when they host Morgan State at Tom Gola Arena.
