Dec. 18, 2008

PHILADELPHIA - For the second year in a row, seniors Andrew Bernhard and Jim Davis earned NSCAA/Adidas Scholar All-East Region Third Team honors for their efforts on the field and in the classroom. Junior Ryan Tadley earned his first NSCAA accolade with an honorable mention in the region.

The Explorers continue to be recognized for their commitment to the meaning of "student-athlete." The team was recently awarded the NSCAA Team Academic Award for maintaining a team GPA of at least 3.0.

Bernhard continues to tally the academic honors. He was previously named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team and the Atlantic 10 All-Academic Team. He was also awarded the Bill Wilkinson Academic and Athletic Award at this year's team banquet. The computer science major boasts a 3.77 GPA, while starting in 11 games this season and making 55 saves.

Davis joins Bernhard on the Third Team for the second year in a row. The senior biology major has a 3.48 GPA and led the Explorer backfield this season. Davis finished his La Salle soccer career in the Top 10 for career assists, and helped lead the Explorers to a big upset over Charlotte this season.

Tadley earned his first NSCAA academic honor with a nod on the honorable mention list. Voted this year's team MVP, the accounting major also holds a 3.52 GPA. Tadley joined Davis this year in leading the Explorer defense and returns for his senior season in 2009.
