La Salle's Quigley Burning Up the Track

Feb. 21, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) has announced the weekly track rankings and the La Salle men's team is now #38 in the country.  The Explorer's are led by four-time All-American Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA/Archbishop Williams), who currently is ranked in three-different events nationally.

The number five is significant for Quigley- as that is his national ranking in both the 3000m (7:52.47) and 5000m (13:50.76) events.  He was named the Atlantic 10 Championship's `Performer of the Meet' after demolishing the A-10 and Mackal Fieldhouse records by nearly 40 seconds en route to the 5k crown last weekend.  He also ran the final leg of the Explorer's winning distance medley relay team (10:12.42).

Quigley's mile time of 4:01.35 is the 23rd best in the nation and also leads the A-10 by nearly nine seconds faster than the next closest time.  He has qualified for the 2008 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in three events: the mile, 3K and 5K.  The NCAA Championships will be held on March 14th-15th, 2008 at the University of Arkansas.

Also of note for the Explorer women's team is Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA/ St. Hubert's) who owns the 10th best 5K time in the country (16.30.54).  Papin was named the 2008 A-10 Indoor Track Championship's 'Performer of the Meet'.
