Biro Sets Record on Second Day of Atlantic 10 Championships

BUFFALO, NY - Freshman Holly Biro broke a school record in the 50-yard freestyle to highlight La Salle's second day at the Atlantic 10 Swimming and Diving Championships. After two days, the Explorer women stand in eighth place, while the men are fifth.

 

Biro clocked in at 23.96 in the first leg of the 200-yard freestyle and later finished fourth in the finals of the 50-free. Sophomore Shannon Duval earned a sixth-place finish in the 200-yard IM (2:06.44). Dana Reis placed 14th in the finals of the 500-yard freestyle.

 

On the men's side, John Welsh blazed through the preliminaries of the 50-yard freestyle, finishing in a time of 20.90, later placing sixth in the finals with a time of 21.04. Owen Black and Chris Cefalo placed 11th and 15th, respectively. Grant Chin earned a seventh-place finish in the 200-yard IM (1:54.53). David Ellerson placed ninth (1:55.64), while Chris Tiano finished 15th (1:57.46).

 

The Explorers' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Welsh, Cefalo, Owen Black and Stuart Barr notched a third-place finish (1:23.89).
