PHILADAELPHIA, PA -­­­ Led by All-American Sean Quigley (Braintree, MA) the La Salle Track and Field teams are leading the Atlantic 10 in seven categories, as released in the weekly performance lists.
Quigley currently is the fastest miler (4:02.80) in the A-10, nearly 12 seconds faster than any other A-10 individual competitor. Quigley also holds the best time in the 3000m run (7:52.47), in which he smashed La Salle's previous 3K school record. He has already automatically qualified for the NCAA Indoor Championships in both the mile and 3k.
The mile is an event which the Explorers are dominating these days, as freshman Trevon Rainford (Philadelphia, PA) and juniors Korey Edwards (Morris Plains, NJ) and David Alfano (West Orange, NJ) hold the 2-3-4 mile times in the A-10, respectively. Speaking of Edwards, the junior sensation is number one in the 1000m run (2:27.56), automatically qualifying for IC4A's. In the fall he took fourth-place in the A-10 Cross Country championship for the Explorers, helping the team to their seventh title in nine seasons.
Junior Steven Rendall (Deptford, NJ) is tied for the A-10 lead in the 55m Hurdles (7.56), and sophomore Andrew Maxwell (Lemoyne, PA) is second in the 400m Dash (49.19)-both have already qualified for the IC4A's.
For the women, junior Meaghan Hobson (Malvern, PA) is leading the A-10 in the 500m run (1:14.32), while Rachel Papin (Philadelphia, PA) is the leader in the 3000m run (9:54.16)- both have qualified for ECAC's. The women's Distance Medley Relay team of seniors Carolyn Lipovsky (Edison, NJ), Adriana Boyle (Havetown, PA), Papin and junior Hobson has the A-10 lead time in 11:45.92.
Lipovsky has the second best time in the 1000m run (2:57.19) and has also qualified for ECAC's.
