Former Explorers to be Inducted Into Hall of Athletes on Saturday

Feb. 7, 2008

PHILADELPHIA, PA - The 2008 La Salle University Hall of Athletes induction ceremony will take place this Saturday, February 9th, immediately following the men's basketball game versus Duquesne, which starts at 2:00 PM. This year's inductees are John Madden (`87), Rasual Butler (`02), Kevin Myles (`00) and Jami Wilus (`02). Prior to the ceremony, the four inductees will be honored at halftime of that afternoon's game.

Madden, a two-time MAAC diving champion, set an Explorers and Kirk Pool scoring record in 1986 (529.75). He twice qualified for the NCAA Championships in the 1-meter diving event, placing 16th in 1987.

Butler became the sixth Explorer to score over 2,000 points and currently ranks fourth among La Salle's all-time scorers. He was named First-Team All-Atlantic 10 in 2001 and 2002 and was selected to the Verizon Atlantic 10 Men's Basketball Championship All-Tournament Team in 2002. He was drafted by the Miami Heat and currently plays in the NBA for the New Orleans Hornets.

Myles was an Atlantic 10 Champion in the 1,000-meter in 1997 and was a three-time All-Conference selection. In 1998, he became the first Explorer to ever qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championships. He was named the La Salle Male Scholar Athlete in 2000.

Wilus currently ranks first in Explorer lacrosse history in points, goals and assists. She led the A-10 in points and goals two years in a row (2001 and 2002), while leading the nation in goals and finishing second in points in 2001. She was named the A-10 Player of the Year in 2002 and was named All-Conference all four years. She was a member of the U.S. Lacrosse National Development Team from 2000-2004.

In addition to the Hall of Athletes festivities, Saturday is also Big Brothers Big Sisters day at Tom Gola Arena. Many student-athletes involved with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program will be on hand with their "littles".

The Hall of Athletes induction ceremony will occur immediately following the conclusion of the game at the Blue and Gold Commons, across from the Hayman Center, and is open to the public. Tickets are available for $25 per person and can be purchased by calling 215-951-1535.
