La Salle Collects Five Hits in 15-0 Loss

March 1, 2008

Box Score

NORTHRIDGE, CA - The La Salle University Baseball team was held to just five hits, while the Matadors pound out 14 of their own and score 15 runs to take the second straight game from the Explorers.

In the second inning, Mike Dertouzos and Brian Meagher led off the frame with back-to-back singles, but Cal State Northridge starter Phil Hann struck out two of the next three batters to get out of the early jam.

By the time La Salle had its next hit - a TJ Chism double in the fourth - the Matadors had taken a five-run lead.

Hann would cruise to his first win of the season as he allowed just three hits and struck out 11 batters in the victory. Jamie Cowan took the loss for the Explorers - his first of the year.

In the top of the eighth, John Malloy and Kevin Prendergast would also register back-to-back singles, this time with one out. But they would be stranded as well.

La Salle (0-6) and the Matadors (3-2) will play two more - one on Sunday with a 4 PM start and another on Tuesday, starting at 5 PM.
