La Salle Athletes Volunteer Around the Neighborhood

March 17, 2008

Philadelphia, PA - La Salle Athletes volunteered to help plant trees in the Oak Lane Tree Tender's biannual tree planting activity. The state-funded program has been spending their time around the neighborhood in an effort to achieve their five year goal of planting close to one million trees throughout the state of Pennsylvania.

The activity consisted of digging holes and placing bare-root trees into the ground. Local neighbors were able to sign up to have trees planted on their property. They could either pay at discounted price or volunteer their time with the Tree tenders in exchange for the tree. This activity gave our Athletes a chance to learn about different types of trees, the proper ways to plant them, how to take care of them, and gave them a chance to bond with one another.
