Atlantic City, NJ - The La Salle Explorers (14-16, 8-8) will begin Atlantic 10 Championship play when they face Duquesne (17-12/7-9) on Wednesday night at 6:30 PM at Boardwalk Hall.
The two teams have already split the two-game season series with Duquesne besting the Explorers, 101-84, on February 9th at La Salle's Tom Gola Arena. The Explorers returned the favor by upending Duquesne on the home court, 75-72, on February 24th.
The Explorers, who wrapped up the regular season with an 85-66 loss to Temple on Saturday afternoon, earned the seventh seed in the tournament while the Dukes finished with a convincing 85-58 win over Saint Louis to get the 10th seed. The winner will face Temple at 6:30 PM on Thursday in the quarterfinals.
The Explorers and Dukes have never played each other in the Atlantic 10 post-season. La Salle is 6-10 all-time in A-10 Championship play.
The Explorers will rely on super senior Darnell Harris, who became the A-10's top three-point shooter with 335 career three-point field goals, and one of the conference's top freshmen in Jerrell Williams who had 10 rebounds in each of the last two games including his seventh double-double in a loss to Massachusetts.
