La Salle Student-Athletes Win Two Awards at Campus-Wide Ceremony

PHILADELPHIA, PA- The La Salle University Division of Student Affairs held its annual student awards ceremony on Wednesday evening. For the first time in nearly 10 years, two La Salle student-athletes were among the major award winners.

 

Martha Kutteh, a junior on the women's tennis team, was honored with the Brother Emery C. Mollenhauer Award. The award is given to a graduating senior who best exemplifies the Lasallian values of charity and justices. Over the past four years, Martha has been involved in a number of service activities through University Ministry and Service.

 

George Attah-Asante of the men's soccer team received the John McShain award. This is given to a graduating senior who has maintained an excellent academic record and is considered by the faculty to have done the most for the public welfare of La Salle University. He is a native of Jamasi, Ghana.

 

Student-athletes comprised over 25% of the students honored at the ceremony this year. 

 

The student-athletes earning student activities achievement awards were: Meghan Ahl, Jarryd Anderson, George Attah-Asante, Ellen Axelsen, Kaylan Billingsley, Chris Caimano, Melanie Charles, Grant Chin, Mike Dertouzos, Jenna Guagenti, Kate Gulkis, Brittany Hanley, Kristin Hextall, Carlene Hightower, Jaclyn Kubala, Martha Kutteh, Kimberly Lisun, Colleen Nesbitt, Jeremy Ortiz, Stephanie Owen, John Rickards, Bryan Schwartz, Christina Spino, Michelle Sullivan, Michelle Verzi and Kevin Waters.
