The 1958 La Salle Crew celebrated the 50th anniversary of their Dad Vail Varsity Eight Championship Friday evening in a ceremony at Lloyd Hall. The title marked the third straight for the Explorers and the sixth of the decade. The Crew consisted of: Tony McCloskey, Bob Morro, Jim Garvin, Romeo Boyd, Bob Suter, Harry Todd, Tom Henry, Jim Cosgrove and Joe McNeill.
Bob Morro was the only member of the crew to row on all three Dad Vail Championship boats ('56, '57, '58). Earlier in the 1950's, Tom Conville and Coxswain Richard Threlfall rowed on three straight championship boats (1951-53).
In addition to the Varsity Eight title, the Freshmen Eight also won in 1958. The Crew consisted of: George Carroll, Don Kerper, Jerry Hipp, Joe Maimona, Larry Maier, John Mesunas, Robert Donovan, and Craig "Ace" O'Brien.
