PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University Rowing took part in the 70th Annual Dad Vail Regatta, Friday, on the Schuylkill River, as four boats competed in a total of six events.
First off for the Explorers was the Men's Varsity 8, who raced to a fifth-place finish in Event 35 crossing the line in 6:10.875. In a very tight finish, La Salle just edged Rhode Island (6:10.915) and was just ticks away from fourth - Boston College (6:10.681).
With the placement, the men, as well as the Women's Varsity 8, which raced to a fourth-place finish in Event 42 (6:56.593), moved on to the Reps in the afternoon. Neither team would advance to Saturday's Semifinals, however, as the Men finished fifth in Event 75 (6:11.768) and the Women were fourth in Event 78 (6:54.038).
The Men's and Women's Junior Varsity 8 were the last boats to race for La Salle at the 2008 Dad Vails. The Men came in fourth in Event 94, stopping the clock in 6:22.560, while the Women actually took to the water in the final race of the day, taking fifth in Event 99 (7:06.729).
