Men's Soccer Freshman Named A-10 Preseason All-Rookie, 2008 Schedule Announced

Philadelphia, PA- One of the newest members of the La Salle men's soccer team - Daniel Korenyi- has been named to the Atlantic 10's Preseason All-Rookie Team, as voted on by the league's coaches and released Tuesday morning.

The New Jersey native was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) High School All-American his senior year, along with NJ Player of the Year-South section honors. Korenyi has earned All-State 1st Team status twice.

La Salle men's soccer head coach Pat Farrell expects Korenyi to see action in midfield. He plans to major in business.

Other recruits that will make up the Class of 2012 for the Explorers include three other high school standouts including Jordan Torres, Tom Kalpokas and Ryan Sepe.

Torres, an Etters, PA native, was named the 2007 Mid-Penn and Commonwealth Division Player of the Year while at Red Land High School. The midfield/forward was named All-State, All-East region and the Harrisburg Patriot News Big 11 All-Star Team. He has attended national team camp and training, and played on the Super Y Regional Olympic Development Team (ODP).

Kalpokas, a Philadelphia native, was an All-State 1st Team selection in his senior year at North Catholic High School. The defender/midfielder was named All-Catholic League three times, and played for the FC Delco Hammerheads which won the state title seven times, and were regional finalists once.

Sepe, a West Islip, NY native, is a two-time All-Conference player at West Islip HS. The forward was named the team's offensive MVP, and earned All-County honors. He helped his team to the county championship game twice.

The Explorers will open up the 2008 season on 8/23 for the Philadelphia Soccer Seven Play Day, and head north to the University of Vermont tournament on 9/5-9/7. A-10 action begins at home on 10/12 vs. Charlotte at 12:00 PM, and the A-10 Tournament begins on 11/15 at Duquesne University.
