La Salle Student-Athletes Help Incoming Freshmen Move In

Aug. 21, 2008

Philadelphia, PA - To nonresidents in the Germantown area, Thursday, August 21 may have felt like a tough day to get around. There may have been some confusion as to why Olney Avenue was backed up for miles on end, in addition to the limited amount of parking spaces throughout the neighborhood. To locals, however, this rapid, overcrowded August morning is simply known as Freshman Move-In Day at La Salle University.

With freshmen moving away from home for the first time in their lives, the student-athletes at La Salle decided to make their move-in day a little easier and less tense by helping their fellow student body move in.

The La Salle men's soccer and women's field hockey teams, to name a few, were lined up along 20th and Olney Avenue unpacking vehicles with each freshman and their respective families.

Men's soccer assisted students with their televisions and electronics, field hockey helped out with food and clothing and even the track team was seen lending a hand to anyone who needed it.

As a result of their caring hospitality, La Salle's student-athletes made each freshman's first experience at the university a positive one. Their generosity made moving in easier on everyone else and in the process, new friendships were made.
