PHILADELPHIA, PA - La Salle University head basketball coach Dr. John Giannini has named Harris Adler Assistant Coach.

Adler, who has served as the team's Director of Basketball Operations for the past four seasons will take the place of Ashley Howard who recently returned to his alma mater Drexel University.

"Coach Adler has worked extremely hard over the past four years to help us build the program.  He has great relationships with the all of our student-athlete and he understands everything that we need to do to be successful; at La Salle," said Giannini.

Coach Adler's responsibilities will include recruiting, scouting, scheduling, and monitoring the academic progress of the team's student athletes.

Giannini noted that Adler's previous experience makes him a good fit for the job, "He has already been a strong recruiter at other schools such as Penn and he brings continuity, knowledge of our program and experience."

Adler was Giannini's first hire when he took over the Explorer program in September of 2004.  Adler came from the University of Pennsylvania where he had been on Fran Dunphy's staff during the 2002-03 and 2003-04 seasons.

Prior to his experience at Penn, Adler was an assistant at Centenary (2001-02) and broke into the coaching business as a graduate assistant at Rowan University during the 1999-2000 season.

Giannini, whose staff includes Adler and assistants Walt Fuller and Horace Owens is expected to announce additions to his staff to replace Adler as the basketball ops director and departed video coordinator Peter Gash who joined Tom Crean's staff at Indiana.

"We thank Coach Howard for outstanding service as he returns to alma mater and college mentor Bruiser Flint," commented Giannini.
