Explorers Drop Remaining Two at La Salle Invitational

Philadelphia, PA - After capturing their first win of the season on Friday night against Lafayette, the La Salle volleyball team tried to make it two in a row, unfortunately, the Rider Broncs had the upper-hand and won the match on Saturday afternoon, 3-0 (28-26, 25-23, 25-23). The Explorers tried to answer back later on in the evening, but the Northern Colorado Bears were too strong as they went on to sweep the match, 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-16). The Explorers now stand at 1-2 on the season.

In just the second game of her collegiate career, freshman Steph Milovic had a breakthrough performance in the early match against Rider as she went on to post the only double-double for the Explorers with 10 kills and 13 digs.

Junior Rachel Stemper, who was named to the 2008 La Salle Invitational All-Tournament Team, chipped in with seven kills and 11 digs, while freshman Kourtney Clark added a team-high 21 assists and 11 digs.

Senior Lacey Johnson, a 2008 La Salle Invitational All-Tournament Team selection, led the way for Rider with a match-high .469 hitting percentage (16-1-32), while also posting a double-double with 16 kills and 10 digs.

In the final match of the 2008 La Salle Invitational, senior Christa Dominick led the way for the Explorers with a team-high 10 kills. Dominick and Stemper both contributed two assisted blocks apiece and Clark led all Explorers and tied a match-high with two service aces.

The Explorers (1-2) are back in action on September 5th when they take on the University of New Mexico at the George Mason Tournament.
