Loudonville, N.Y. - La Salle's Colleen Lechner scored the game-winning goal with just over eight minutes remaining as the Explorers slipped past the Siena Field Hockey team 2-1 this afternoon at Siena Turf Field.
The Explorers (2-4) controlled the tempo early, culminating in the first score of the game just under three minutes in. Kara Harpel sent a centering feed right to left through the box that found the stick of Beth Carey who blasted a shot into the Siena (0-4) goal for her second strike of the season.
In the 46th minute, freshman Jenn Reich fired a shot that was initially stopped by Explorers' goalie Brittany Nyzio, but Williams was right there for the put back to secure the equalizer.
The Explorers reclaimed the lead late. After a long entry pass was knocked down entering the circle, Lechner obtained possession and fired a bullet past Clavette for the game winner.
LaSalle outshot the Saints 14-3 and held a 10-3 edge in penalty corners. Carey led the Explorers with four shots, while teammates Lindsay Fry and Whitney Madron each added three.
