Cross Country Competes at the William & Mary Inter-Regional Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The men's cross country team placed fourth out of eight teams and the women placed fourth out of nine teams at Saturday's Inter-Regional Invitational hosted by the College of William & Mary. Junior Trevon Rainford paced the men with a 17th place run out of 106 entries, while freshman Caitlin Storbeck led the women with a 23rd place finish out of 89.

Rainford crossed the finish line in 25:47 in the men's 8K race. Sophomore Sean Ward was the second Explorer to finish, crossing the line in 25:56 for 25th place. Rounding out the top five finishers on the men's side were freshman Tyler Jones (26th/25:59), sophomore Thomas Pannulla (28th/26:06) and freshman David Hausherr (31st/26:13).

Storbeck led the Explorer women for the second straight meet. She completed the 6K course in 23:29, matching her time two weeks ago at Princeton. Sophomore Colleen Boland came in at 23:40 for 27th place. Rounding out the top five finishers on the women's side are freshman Wendy Hutchinson (29th/23:55), freshman Stephanie Bearish (31st/23:58) and senior Mary Clare Parrott (32nd/24:05).

Host William & Mary topped the field on the men's side, while Michigan State won the women's race.

The Explorers next head to Lehigh University on Friday, Oct. 3, for the Paul Short Invitational.
