La Salle Falls to New Mexico in George Mason Tournament

Fairfax, VA - The La Salle University volleyball team journeyed down south for the weekend as they began to prepare for three matches in the George Mason Tournament. The Explorers looked to open up competition with their second victory of the season, unfortunately, the University of New Mexico was too much to handle as La Salle dropped the match, 3-0 (25-14, 25-10, 25-14).

On the attack, senior Christa Dominick led all Explorers with five kills, which added to her .294 hitting percentage (5-0-17) on the evening, while also contributing two digs and an assisted block.

Senior Jackie Kushman, who made her 2008 debut against the Lobos, followed up Dominick's performance with four kills and a team-high nine digs.

Freshman Kourtney Clark tallied a team-high with 11 assists and junior Sarah Jancuska added seven of her team's 31 digs.

For New Mexico, sophomore Jade Michaelsen tallied a match-high with 21 assists, senior Jeanne Fairchild led all players in the contest with 12 kills on the attack and senior Gayle Tripp contributed a match-high with 14 digs. Junior Rose Morris and sophomore Taylor Hadfield combined for nine assisted blocks for the Lobos.

The Explorers (1-3) take the floor bright and early on Saturday, September 6 as they get set to play Rutgers University at 10:00 a.m. in the George Mason Tournament.
