BURLINGTON, VT - La Salle men's soccer played to its second consecutive 1-1 double overtime tie on Sunday morning, this time against the University of New Hampshire in the 2008 Smith Barney Nike Classic. The tie moves the Explorers to 0-1-2 on the young season.
Sophomore Ryan Richter's shot with a minute remaining in the first half bounced off the crossbar and junior Ryan Dougherty punched in the rebound to put the Explorers on top heading into the break.
New Hampshire's Sean Colman scored the game-tying goal with 1:17 left in regulation. Neither team produced a goal in either overtime period.
Defense again proved to be a huge asset to the Explorer squad, which faced 16 New Hampshire shots. The Explorer offense attempted five shots.
Andrew Bernhard, Brian Barry and Jim Davis were named to the All-Tournament team for their efforts this weekend.
The Explorers are back in action on Wednesday (9/10) at 7 p.m. as they host Soccer Seven rival Drexel in the 2008 home opener.
