PHILADELPHIA - The Atlantic 10 Conference has released its Fall Sports Honor Roll for September 8, and La Salle freshman Women's Soccer player Dana O'Brien has been named the Co-Rookie of the Week.
She picks up the first A-10 Rookie of the Week nod for La Salle since Kristin Hextall earned the honor on October 18, 2004. A total of eight Explorers have now been honored as a rookie of the week with Amy Schneider (1999 - 4 times) and Krista Lee (2000 - twice) as the only players to earn multiple honors.
O'Brien picks up the honor after scoring a goal in each of La Salle's games this week. She scored the equalizer in La Salle's 2-1 come-from-behind win over Loyola (MD) on Friday, then put the Explorers up 1-0 in their 3-2 loss to Villanova on Sunday.
For her efforts, she was also named to the Villanova Classic's All-Tournament team.
She shared the honor with Saint Louis goalkeeper Hannah Perry, who posted a pair of shutouts as the Billikens went 1-0-1 in the Toys for Tots Tournament. To see the entire A-10 Fall Sports Honor Roll for September 8 click here.
O'Brien leads the Explorers with three goals and six shots on net, and is tie with teammate Alex Conley for the lead in points with six.
La Salle (3-1) returns to action this weekend in California with a contest Friday at San Diego and a match Sunday at UC Riverside.
