Rendall and Plummer Tabbed Atlantic 10 Performers of the Week

Jan. 26, 2009

PHILADELPHIA - Seniors Steven Rendall and Christa Plummer swept the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honors for their strong performances this past weekend. The honors mark the first of the season for both student-athletes.

Rendall earned conference honors for his IC4A-qualifying time of 8.16 seconds in the 60 meter hurdle event at Navy's Wesley A. Brown Invitational on Saturday. He captured his second straight gold in that event by outrunning the nationally sixth-ranked hurdler - Tennessee's Charlton Rolle - and his time marked the second consecutive week of IC4A-caliber times. Rendall also ran in the 200 meter dash on Saturday and won his heat with a time of 22.67 seconds.

Plummer captures A10 honors after qualifying for the ECAC Championship for the second consecutive week. After qualifying in the 3,000 meters last weekend, she ran a 16:46.85 in the 5,000 meters this week to qualify in that event as well. Plummer was the top collegiate runner in that race, placing fifth overall with only independent club runners ahead of her. Her time was also just 26 hundredths of a second off the NCAA provisional mark of 16:46.60.

Rendall, Plummer, and the rest of the Explorer squad are back in action this weekend as the team splits time between the Penn State Invitational on Friday and Saturday, and the University of Delaware Invitational on Saturday.
