Jan. 30, 2009

PHILADELPHIA - Former Explorer standout and La Salle Hall of Athletes honoree Curt Fromal will be inducted into the Big Five Hall of Fame on Friday, February 13, as announced by the Big Five office today.

Fromal will be honored in a ceremony that will take place on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania at 6:00 PM that day.

Fromal was selected to the Big Five Hall of Fame for his standout career on 20th and Olney. He was the leading scorer on the 1964-65 team that went to the NIT. He scored 411 points that year and made the UPI "Little All-America" first team.

Fromal was also honored on the Big Five and Middle Atlantic Conference first teams. His accomplishments that year are many, including a 34-point performance against Saint Joseph's that helped bring the Explorers back from a 20-point deficit to nearly upset the third-ranked Hawks.

Fromal will be honored along with Penn's Jerome Allen and Susan Moran of Saint Joseph's.
