Loretto, PA – The La Salle swimming & diving team, who travel to Atlantic 10 rival Duquesne on Saturday, kicked the weekend off with a women’s victory on Friday as they defeated Saint Francis (PA) on the road, 114-87. In the win, the Explorers compiled five pool records in 11 events.
The Explorers opened up the meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay led by sophomore Alex Stoddart, junior Shannon Duval, sophomore Holly Biro and senior Carleen Caldwell. Their first place time of 1:50.13 set a pool record.
In addition to her relay time, Duval went on to record two more first place honors on the day. She finished first in the 200-yard IM (2:09.93) and first in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:05.92). Both times also marked pool records.
Biro finished as the top swimmer in the 50-yard freestyle and also set a pool record in the event with her time of 24.64. Freshman Emily Heath also picked up first place honors and a pool record in the 500-yard freestyle (5:10.12).
The Explorers travel to Duquesne on Saturday as they prepare to take on the Dukes in their final road meet of the season.
