PHILADELPHIA - La Salle freshman Neelam Kumar, who scored her first collegiate goals on Sunday in a 5-1 victory over Saint Louis, has been named the Atlantic 10 Field Hockey Rookie of the Week, the league office announced today. Kumar is the second Explorer to earn rookie honors from the A-10, joining Rebecca Chylack, who has won three weekly awards.

Kumar scored her first goal in the 12th minute and followed with another tally in the 24th minute to give La Salle a 3-0 lead it would not relinquish.

The Explorers (6-10, 1-2 A-10) host Saint Joseph's on Friday at 3 PM. The team will honor its five seniors in pre-game ceremonies.
