CINCINNATI, OH – After going 1-2 on their most recent three-match homestand, the La Salle volleyball team ventured out to Ohio for a two-match road trip beginning with Xavier on Friday. The Explorers, who looked to kick off their road trip on a positive note, fell behind early against the Musketeers and eventually lost, 3-0 (13-25, 9-25, 19-25).
Trailing by two sets and down 24-14 in the third, La Salle piled on five straight points which was ignited by a kill from sophomore Stephanie Milovic. The Explorers closed the deficit to five, 24-19, but Xavier notched the final point for the victory, 25-19.
Freshman Emily Merrick led the Explorers with five kills and fellow classmate Samantha Tulskie paced all participants with nine digs.
Senior Rachel Stemper totaled three kills and four digs and sophomore Kourtney Clark recorded nine assists, two digs and a service ace.
For the Musketeers, senior Kelly Ruth was one of two Xavier players with five kills, while also tallying seven digs and an assist.
The Explorers (3-18, 0-3) remain in the state of Ohio to take on Dayton on Saturday at 7 PM.
