Academic All-District 2 Teams in PDF Format
PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University's Ally Kenney has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District 2 First Team, it was announced Friday, while teammate Traci DePasquale earned Second Team honors.
It is the first time in the program's 24-year history that two players received regional academic accolades. Kenney, a senior defender for Women's Soccer, will now move on to the national ballot and have a chance to be voted an Academic All-American.
On the field, Kenney has five goals and eight assists in 2009, and has started and played in all 19 games this season. In her career, Kenney has nine goals and 13 assists in her four seasons at La Salle making 75 starts in 77games.
On the academic side, Kenney holds a 3.63 grade-point average as a communications major. She is just one of three players from the Atlantic 10 Conference to earn a First Team selection.
For DePasquale, her totals include eight goals and 12 assists for the 2009 season in 19 starts. Her career numbers are just as impressive, 28 goals and 30 assists in a school record 80 career games played with 75 starts.
Academically, the first year graduate student held a 3.35 grade-point average as an elementary and special education major. In all, the A-10 had 13 student-athletes named to a Women's Soccer All-District Team.
In order to be eligible for the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, a student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.20 and be at least a sophomore in school.
The national ballot will consist of the first team honorees from each of eight districts around the country. The Women's Soccer Academic All-America team will be announced later in November.
The attachment above is the list for the Academic All-District 2 teams. Again, Kenney will be in the running for Academic All-American with only those University Division First Team honorees from the seven other districts, which can be viewed by clicking here.
