Box Score

PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle volleyball team opened up a two-match homestand on Sunday when they hosted Xavier at Tom Gola Arena, but a remarkable .365 attack percentage from the Musketeers ended the Explorers’ day with a loss, 3-0 (15-25, 14-25, 24-26).

The Explorers evened up the third set, 19-19, when they scored two consecutive points off of kills from freshmen Emily Merrick and Lauren Noga. They pulled ahead by one later on in the set, 24-23, courtesy of a kill from senior Rachel Stemper. Needing one more point to win the set, the Explorers tried to contain Xavier, but a 3-0 run to close out the set gave the Musketeers the victory.

Stemper notched her 11th double-double of the season with team-highs of 15 kills and 10 digs on Sunday.

Senior Kelly Ruth was one kill and one dig shy of a double-double, ending with nine kills and nine digs, along with adding two assists and a block assist for Xavier. Junior Shannon Voors closed out the match with a .600 attack percentage (9K-0E-15TA) and five digs and fellow classmate Claire Paszkiewicz led all participants with 27 assists and tied a match-high with two block assists.

Junior Carly Conlon led all Explorers with 16 assists and Noga finished with a team-best .417 attack percentage (5K-0E-12TA).

The Explorers (3-26, 0-11) will host the Dayton Flyers tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. ET.
