PHILADELPHIA – The La Salle swimming & diving team hosted its second tri-meet of the season on Saturday against Delaware and Rider at Kirk Pool. The Explorer men came up short to Delaware (180-119) and Rider (169-130) and the women also fell to Delaware (188.5-108.5) and Rider (165-130) as well.
Senior Shannon Duval and freshman Blase Szyzsko were the two standouts for the Explorers, combining for four first-place finishes on Saturday.
Duval recorded the top times in the 100-yard breast (1:06.09) and 200-yard breast (2:18.33) while placing second in the 200-yard IM (2:09.03). Szyzsko totaled two first-place finishes in the 100-yard breast (58.62) and 200-yard breast (2:08.26).
Emily Heath placed second in the 1000-yard free (10:22.08) and then followed up her performance with another second-place finish in the 500-yard free (5:05.73).
In the diving events, Laurie McLaughlin finished with the second-best score in the 1-meter (207.05) and then placed third in the 3-meter (213.15).
The Explorers finished second in both the men’s 200-yard medley relay (1:36.92) and women’s 200-yard medley relay (1:49.67).
Other key standouts included: Austin Thomas (100-yard fly, 52.98), Zach Anderson (500-yard free, 4:48.99) and Jessica Carbin (100-yard back, 58.50).
The Explorers will have a short break from competition before traveling to Lewisburg, PA for the Bucknell Trials on Friday, Dec. 4.
