La Salle Explorers (1-4, 0-0 A-10)
Conference: Atlantic 10
The La Salle Explorers return to Tom Gola Arena after playing their last four games on the road. After kicking off their four-game road swing with a 77-73 overtime victory against Long Island back on Nov. 15, the Explorers dropped three consecutive matchups on their Midwest trip.
Leading 27-26 with 17:19 remaining in regulation on Monday, the Explorers looked to stay out in front of Wichita State, but a 30-16 run by the Shockers down the stretch provided La Salle with its third straight loss.
Morgan Robertson led the Explorers and was one point shy of tying the game-high with 11 points on 7-of-8 shooting from the charity stripe. Tara Lapetina went 2-for-4 from the field, finishing with nine points, and Ashley Gale paced the team and tied the game-high with nine boards.
Through five games this season, the Explorers are shooting 35.5 percent from the floor, 23.3 percent from beyond the arc and 67.3 percent from the free throw line.
Lehigh Mountain Hawks (4-1, 0-0 Patriot League)
Conference: Patriot League
The Lehigh Mountain Hawks head into Tom Gola Arena on Sunday looking to add to their three-game winning streak. The Mountain Hawks defeated Binghamton on the road Tuesday, 76-62, which commenced a three-game road trip for Lehigh.
In the win, three Mountain Hawks finished in double figures, led by Erica Prosser’s game-high 19 points. Prosser shot 6-for-15 from the field and also contributed team-highs with four assists and four steals. Courtney Dentler followed up with 17 points and Emily Gratch rounded out all double-digit scorers for Lehigh with 13 points. Alexa Williams pulled down 10 boards to lead all participants and was just shy of a double-double, ending with seven points.
Despite a 90-54 defeat at No. 20/22 Vanderbilt on Nov. 15, Lehigh has won its games this season by a margin of +18.3 points.
Eye on an Explorer: Antonia Gale
Senior Antonia Gale has boosted her scoring average from 3.3 in 2008-09 to 7.2 this season. Gale, who is shooting 36.8 percent from the field and 75 percent (21-for-28) from the charity stripe, scored 10 points off the bench for the Explorers against Tulsa on Nov. 21. She is currently third on the team in scoring this season.
Key Matchup: Jamie Walsh vs. Erica Prosser
The matchup to keep an eye on in Sunday’s game will take place in the backcourt between La Salle senior guard Jamie Walsh and Lehigh junior guard Erica Prosser.
In 2008-09, Walsh was ranked second in the A-10 in three-point field goals made per game (2.17) and ninth in three-point percentage (.391). Walsh is fourth on the team in scoring (6.8 ppg) and is 10-for-11 from the stripe this season.
Prosser returns as the leading scorer from last season for the Mountain Hawks and currently paces the team in scoring this season (18.2 ppg). In Lehigh’s season-opening 77-60 win over Lipscomb, Prosser set a new career-high with 27 points.
