The La Salle Explorers return to the court on Friday, Nov. 6, when they host Holy Family in an exhibition match-up at Tom Gola Arena. The team returns four of its five starters from last season including its leading scorer and rebounder, Morgan Robertson.

The 6-foot senior filled the stat sheet last season with 11 double-doubles, 20 double-digit scoring performances, 12 double figure rebounding games and a career-high 26 points against Charlotte on Feb. 14. Following the season, Robertson's achievements on and off the court led her to a variety of awards including an ESPN The Magazine/Co-SIDA All-District First Team selection.

The Explorers contain one of the conference's strongest backcourts, led by Jamie Walsh, Tara Lapetina and Ashley Gale. Walsh and Lapetina tied for the team-high in three-point percentage (.391) and Gale followed up at 33.1 percent shooting. Aside from her offensive prowess, Gale was a top defensive specialist last season as she led the team in steals (42) and blocks (17).

Holy Family Tigers (2008-09: 26-6, 18-0 CACC)
Conference: Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC)

Fresh off of an NCAA East Regional Tournament berth, the Holy Family Tigers look to extend its hot streak into the 2009-10 campaign. The Tigers went a perfect 18-0 in conference play last season and defeated its opponents by an average of 17.9 points per game over the course of the entire season. The Tigers were impressive on both ends of the court with averages of 40.6 rebounds per game, 1.2 assist/turnover ratio, 9.0 steals per game and 108 total blocks.

They return nine of its 14 players from last season, including two of its top three scorers. Junior Catherine Carr (15.3 ppg) and senior Christine McCollum (10.0 ppg) solidify the frontcourt while sophomore Lauren Peters balances out the guard position with team-best averages in assists per game (3.3) and three-point percentage (.438).

Eye on an Explorer: Jenna Gilbert

As a freshman, Jenna Gilbert started in 20 of her 29 games played and led all Explorer newcomers with 4.5 points per game and 3.6 rebounds per game. The Nepean, Ontario, native scored a career-high 14 points against Lafayette on Dec. 16 and pulled down a career-high eight rebounds at Loyola (MD) a little over a week later. Following the season, Gilbert was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll in the spring.
