BUFFALO – The La Salle swimming & diving team competed in its second tri-meet of the season on Saturday when they met up with Duquesne and St. Bonaventure in Buffalo, NY. The women swept the competition with wins over Duquesne (168-150) and St. Bonaventure (197-132), but the men did not have as much luck, losing to Duquesne (195-133) and St. Bonaventure (203-131).
The Explorer women won three of the four relay events on Saturday including the 200-yard medley relay (1:50.06), 200-yard free relay (1:39.92) and 400-yard free relay (3:36.01).
Senior Shannon Duval, who was a member of two of the three first-place relay teams for La Salle, picked up three top times on Saturday as well. Duval placed first in the 200-yard breast (2:17.82), 100-yard breast (1:05.44) and 200-yard IM (2:08.93). Sophomore Emily Heath followed up Duval’s performance with two first-place finishes of her own (1650-yard free, 17:31.06; 500-yard free, 5:06.74).
On the men’s side, freshman Tom Lawrie recorded a first-place time in the 200-yard back (1:55.93) and sophomore Jordan Baker finished first in the 1-meter (270.83) and second in the 3-meter (270).
Other key standouts included: sophomore Edward Carnes (200-yard back, 1:56.54), senior Dana Reis (1650-yard free, 17:49.47), junior Holly Biro (100-yard free, 53.85) and junior Jessica Carbin (100-yard back, 58.33).
The Explorers return home to Kirk Pool on Saturday, Nov. 14, to host Delaware and Rider at 1:00 p.m. ET.
