Three Earn NSCAA Scholar East Region Accolades

Dec. 18, 2009

PHILADELPHIA - Ryan Richter, Ryan Tadley and Jim Guntle added more honors to their resumes as all three earned Scholar All-East Region accolades from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) for their work in the classroom and on the field.

Richter earned Second Team honors while Tadley and Guntle were named honorable mention. Both Guntle and Tadley are repeat honorees.

Richter's second team nod comes on the heels of a very successful season for the junior, and is the second major academic honor as he also earned CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District recognition as well. He led the team in goals (7) and assists (7) for a team-leading 21 points. Those 21 points also led the Soccer Six, and he was named Soccer Six Player of the Year. Richter will graduate in May 2011 with a degree in Marketing.

Tadley and Guntle make their second appearances on the All-Region honorable mention list. The two seniors led the Explorer defense to four shut-outs in 2009. Tadley was also voted on by his teammates as the squad's MVP and was also named to the Soccer Six All-Star team.

Guntle started 12 of the 18 games he appeared in, and registered three assists on the season.

Tadley will graduate in May with a degree in Accounting while Guntle will graduate with a degree in Finance.

To qualify for consideration on the NSCAA Scholar teams, players must have at least a 3.3 grade point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
