Senior Haley Froshour has been named to the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey team in voting by the sports information offices of the 28 area institutions from the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The tri-captain earned honorable mention All-Atlantic 10 honors this fall after tallying a career-high eight assists as a defender.
A starter in every game of her career, she anchored the Explorer defense that finished third in the league in goals against average. She also was second on the team with a pair of defensive saves.
She earned academic all-Atlantic 10 honors for the second straight season with a 3.98 GPA as a secondary education/Spanish major. It is her first time on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area team.
Drexel junior forward Christina Mastropaolo was named the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Performer of the Year. Mastropaolo, a sports management major who owns a 3.58 cumulative grade point average, leads the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) in goals (27), points (65) and game-winning goals (10).
Mastropaolo and Froshour are joined on the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Field Hockey Team by Delaware Valley College's Bethany Pavlik and Katy Provenzale, Drexel University's Jennifer Bolger and Susan Ciufo, Eastern University' Lindsay Moyer, Immaculata University Allison Micheletti, Saint Joseph University's Anne Schreuders, Swarthmore College's Gina Grubb, Temple University's Charise Young, Ursinus College's Megan Yoder and Widener University's Ellen Etzweiler and Amanda Nagy.
