LEWISBURG, PA - The La Salle swimming & diving team took part in the second day of the Bucknell Trials on Saturday. Through 38 events, the women stand in fourth-place with 583.5 points and the men are right behind in fifth with 697.5 points.
In the relay events, the women climbed to a third-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:46.78) and a fourth-place finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay (7:44.83). On the men's side, the Explorers placed fourth in both the 200-yard medley relay (1:34.67) and 800-yard freestyle relay (6:56.57).
Senior Shannon Duval broke a school record on Saturday when she finished with a preliminary time of 1:03.16 in the 100-yard breast. Later on in the evening, she would record a second-place finish in the event's final heat (1:03.81). Freshman Elizabeth Jordan would follow up Duval in fourth (1:05.04).
In the 100-yard fly, sophomore Austin Thomas rounded out in second (50.57) and, in the 100-yard breast, freshman Blase Szyzsko picked up third-place honors (58.36).
In the 400-yard IM, senior Brittany Sedberry finished in third (4:32.05) and freshman Tom Lawrie also picked up a third-place time in the event (4:01.99).
The Explorers will take part in the final day of the Bucknell Trials tomorrow.
