Explorers Wrap Up First Day of A-10 Championships

Buffalo, NY – The La Salle men’s and women’s swimming & diving team completed the first day of the Atlantic 10 Championships on Wednesday. Through five events, the men are currently ranked in fourth place with 57 points and the women are in fifth with 68 points.

Over the course of the day, the Explorers set school records in three separate events. The events included the women’s 200-yard medley relay (sophomore Alex Stoddart, junior Shannon Duval, sophomore Holly Biro, senior Carleen Caldwell; 1:44.95), the men’s 200-yard medley relay (sophomore Dustin Gibb, senior David Ellerson, junior Matt Harner, junior Owen Black; 1:31.89) and the women’s 800-yard freestyle relay (Duval, Biro, Caldwell, freshman Emily Heath; 7:37.32).

In the women’s 1-meter diving event, freshman Laurie McLaughlin placed seventh with a preliminary score of 204.45 and a finals score of 219.50. Senior Tanya Lindenmuth followed up in 13th place with a preliminary score of 152.80.

The Explorers return on Thursday to take part in the second day of the Atlantic 10 Championships.
