In recent weeks we have experienced an unusual amount of freezing, buffering and other issues with the quality of our video streams. Efforts have been made to improve the quality and should be visible beginning Sunday, February 22nd.
We have been working on locating the cause of the issue(s) for over a month now and believe we may finally have it isolated.
The combined efforts of the La Salle Office of Athletic Communications, representatives from University Information Technology and our media partners at CBS College Sports have indentified what we believe to be the issue and have reconfigured certain elements in the streaming process to make for a cleaner and less interrupted stream. We hope these improvements will be evident as of Sunday's men's basketball game against Duquesne.
Additional steps to improve the stream are also planned.
The streaming of men's and women's basketball games at La Salle University is a collaborative effort between the Department of Athletics and the student volunteers/future professionals from the Communication Department. We take pride in having multiple camera angles and broadcast-quality equipment to provide an optimum viewing experience for our fans while giving real world production experience to our talented students. Therefore, the degradation in quality which only recently developed, has been something that has caused us great concern and frustration.
Please bear in mind that future issues such as buffering and freezing can still occur and can be a result of a number of factors including but not limited to the individual viewer's computer, his or her connection and whether or not they are using a number of other computer applications while trying to view a game.
